BECOME A VOLUNTEER VACATIONS CREW LEADER
The success of any Volunteer Vacation depends in part on the leader. Leading a Volunteer Vacation crew for American Hiking is immensely rewarding and one of today's premier volunteer leadership positions working to support America's trails. You do not have to be a certified or expert trail builder to take on the duties and responsibilities of an American Hiking Volunteer Vacation crew leader. But you do need to be motivated to improve our nation's foot trails— one trail at a time.
The crew leader is an American Hiking Society representative. Being a leader requires collaboration with the host and ensuring that the crew fulfill its responsibilities and has a little fun doing it. It's simple: Read over the requirements and responsibilities , pick an orientation date that works for you, and begin choosing the trips you'd like to lead. Join us in this important endeavor to improve our trails and ensure a memorable experience for all of our volunteers.

Crew leaders are responsible for pre-trip communications, meal planning and ensuring the well-being of all volunteers. Good communication and organizational skills are essential. Flexibility and a good sense of humor are important and most welcome!
