The Volunteer of the Year Award honors dedicated volunteers for their tireless efforts to promote healthy recreation, stewardship, and conservation of our public lands and hiking trails.

2008 Guidelines

 
 

Volunteers were awarded in 9 regions, with 2 awards given nationally. Dave and Gwen Fuehring from Maryland Heights, MO are our 2007 National Volunteers of the Year for their outstanding contributions to

hiking trails, the Ozark Trail Association and American Hiking Society. Mr. and Mrs. Fuehring, also the Central States regional winners, stood out for their work clearing a trail hit very hard by severe storms throughout 2006.
